July 30, 2021

On July 29, ABFS held a virtual panel discussion “Combating COVID-19 in the Kingdom of Bahrain” with Dr. Mohamed Al Shaaban, Member and Coordinator of the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus and the Chief of Health Policies and Programs at Bahrain’s Supreme Council of Health.

Dr. Al Shaaban’s professional expertise and presentation shed light on the timely and successful response of the Government of Bahrain in combating COVID-19. He demonstrated the numerous government initiatives and inter-cooperation between public sectors as the key reasons behind the government’s success.

Using the most up-to-date statistics, Dr. Al Shaaban unfolded the Kingdom’s high vaccination rates (70 % of the Total Population), the accessibility of booster shots, and the various vaccination centers operating in the country. Furthermore, he highlighted the positive remarks made by Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the WHO, during his recent visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Ramadan Iftar Meal Distribution 2021

May 5, 2021

On May 5, ABFS sponsored and distributed 100 Iftar meals to the Muslim community at the ADAMS Center in Sterling, Virginia.

During the holy month of Ramadan, both fasting and acts of charity are advised upon Muslims who are able to do so. Fasting from sunrise to sunset is representative of a spiritual cleansing, an effort to become closer to God, and an attempt to gain a better understanding of human suffering. The act of fasting calls for Muslims to practice self-discipline and sacrifice, as well as reflect upon and show compassion for the poor and less fortunate. Muslims are reminded to be generous and increase their charitable activities. As a result, during Ramadan, much charitable giving is done by the community.
